Halak leads 'Dogs to Victory

Hamilton, ON - Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves to backstop the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 2-1 overtime win over the Manitoba Moose on Friday evening in front of 5,841 fans at Copps Coliseum.

The Moose opened the scoring 3:33 into the first period when Jason King broke into the Hamilton zone and rifled a shot that beat Hamilton netminder Halak.

Hamilton tied the game at 17:04 of the second period while on the power play. Corey Locke fed a pass to J.F. Jacques in front of the net, who put the puck behind Moose goaltender Wade Flaherty.

After a scoreless third period, the ‘Dogs and Moose went to overtime for the third time this season. At 3:10 of the overtime session, Maxim Lapierre picked up a pass from Marc-Antoine Pouliot on the left wing and snapped the puck behind Flaherty.

Halak made 33 saves on 34 shots for the win, while Flaherty made 34 saves on 36 shots for the loss.

Hamilton was 1 for 8 on the power play while Manitoba went 0 for 5.

Hamilton's next game will take place on Saturday, March 11th when they host the Philadelphia Phantoms. This will be the Phantoms only visit to Copps Coliseum this season.
