
Ak-Sar-Ben Knights Add Kersten To Front Office Staff

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that they have hired Jim Kersten as their new Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
"We are excited to have Jim on board to lead our sales and marketing efforts," said Doug Soetaert, Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' president. "He will bring a wealth of experience and boundless energy to bear in the market, and his contributions will be especially important as we build toward the Calder Cup Playoffs and begin planning our second season in Omaha."
Kersten will be responsible for creating an effective marketing strategy for the team and for generating corporate partnerships. He brings 13 years of experience marketing the sport of hockey. Most recently, he was the Executive Director of Sales for the Quad City Mallards of the United Hockey League. Prior to that, he worked as the Sales Manager for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the National Hockey League. He was twice named Marketing Director of the Year while working for the San Diego Gulls of the then-West Coast Hockey League. Jim's other stops include Bakersfield, California, Orlando, Florida, Huntsville, Alabama and Nashville, Tennessee.
Originally from Woodstock, Illinois, Jim received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Elmhurst College in 1991. He and his wife, Samantha, have two daughters.
The Knights return to action on Saturday when they host the Cleveland Barons at 7:00 p.m. They'll welcome the West Division-leading Houston Aeros on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and then hit the road for games in San Antonio on Monday and Wednesday, March 13 and 15.
Tickets for all home games are available at the Civic Auditorium box office, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The box office is open through the opening face-off on game nights.
