Hershey Bears News Release

HERSHEY has not spent a single minute of the 2005-06 season in first place. That could change Friday night as the BEARS play the second game of a five-game road trip at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Following a 3-1 win at Lowell Wednesday night to open the trip, the BEARS begin play Friday just one point behind front-running Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the East Division standings. The Penguins were shutout 5-0 Wednesday at home by Syracuse. Wilkes-Barre, who has led the East for every day of the 2005-06 season to this point, plays on the road at Albany tonight.

HERSHEY visits Portland for the beginning of a two-game series in Maine tonight. It's the only time the BEARS will play at Portland this season. Goaltender Frederic Cassivi is expected to make his AHL leading 51st start of the season. Cassivi is facing many of his teammates from a season ago when he played for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. Anaheim is in its first year as Portland's NHL affiliate. The BEARS have numerous ex-Pirate players returning to Maine tonight. Portland was Washington's AHL affiliate last season.

Tonight's game is being broadcast via the BEARS Radio Network back to central Pennsylvania. 100.1 FM WQIC, 1490-AM WLPA and 960-AM WHYL will carry all of the action beginning at 6:45 p.m. Friday night. John Walton will call the play-by-play. HERSHEY will not return home until next Saturday when the Albany River Rats invade GIANT Center at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for all BEARS home games are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
