
P-Bruins Defeat Lock Monsters 4-1

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Lowell Lock Monsters 4-1 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Ben Walter, Jason MacDonald and two from Eric Healey. The P-Bruins are now 32-25-1-3 on the season, 68 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
The Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 6:21 mark of the opening period. Jay Leach carried the puck into the zone and sent it behind the net for Healey. He looked for a pass towards the far post, but the puck went off the back of Lock Monster goaltender Craig Kowalski and into the net. The P-Bruins scored their second goal of the period at the 11:59 mark when Jonathan Sigalet worked to puck to Pascal Pelletier in the neutral zone. Pelletier dropped the puck off for Walter who blasted the shot on Kowalski from outside the circles. Kowalski took the shot in the right shoulder, but the puck bound up in the air and behind him as it trickled into the net. The P-Bruins went into the first intermission leading 2-0.
In the second period the Lock Monsters cut the lead in half while on the power play. Anton Babchuk sent a pass cross the crease to Scott Kellman who beat Providence netminder Jordan Sigalet glove side. It was the only goal of the period as the P-Bruins went into the second intermission leading 2-1.
In the third period, the P-Bruins added two insurance goals. The first one came at the 3:05 mark. Scott Ford worked the puck down the left wing for Nate Thompson, who hit MacDonald with a pass as he was cutting towards the net. MacDonald slipped the puck past Tyler Lawson who took over in net for Kowalski to give the P-Bruins a 3-1 lead. Providence added another goal at the 7:58 mark when Healey took a pass from Robinson and sent the puck past Lawson. The P-Bruins went on to a 4-1 victory.
Sigalet stopped 24 of 25 shots for the P-Bruins, while Kowalski stopped 9 of 11 shots for the Lock Monsters before Lawson relieved him stopping 15 of 17. The P-Bruins were 0 for 4 on the power play, while Lowell was 1 for 6 on the man-advantage.
The P-Bruins hit the road Saturday, March 11 versus the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center at 7:05 p.m. before return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, March 12 versus Hershey at 4:05 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive clappers courtesy of The Washington Trust Company. The Washington Trust Company will also be collecting peanut butter for an hour before the game for the Rhode Island Food Bank.
