Providence, RI - Eric Healey scored twice to lead the Providence Bruins (32-25-1-3) to a 4-1 victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters (25-30-5-5) at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Friday night. There are two games left in the season series between the clubs.

Lowell fell behind in the opening period as by a pair. Eric Healey notched his 25th of the season 6:21 into the game, banking a shot in off G Craig Kowalski from behind the net. They extended the lead when Ben Walter's blast from 45 feet out fooled Kowalski, popped up off his shoulder up, and bounded into the cage to make it 2-0. Kowalski was pulled in favor of Tom Lawson, having stopped eight of 10 shots. Lawson was reassigned by Colorado on Thursday from the San Diego Gulls. The Monsters dodged a bullet by killing off a five-minute major power play by the Bruins after that, and escaped the period with a 2-0 deficit, along with a 14-5 shot deficit.

The Monsters turned things around in the second. They outshot the Bruins 10-5 and pulled within a goal on the power play. Scott Kelman scored for the second time this season, on the man advantage at 14:54. Kelman has a point in three of his four games since signing a PTO last week. Lawson stopped everything that came his way in the middle stanza.

Early in the third period, Providence regained their two-goal lead. Jason MacDonald converted his eighth tally of the season at 3:05 to make it 3-1 and get the first goal of the night against Lawson. Eric Healey potted his second of the night a few minutes later to put the game out of reach. After that, a bit of nastiness broke out with several skirmishes and a pair of fights, with over 30 minutes in penalties handed out. Lowell couldn't get any closer, and slipped further behind the Bruins in the race for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.

Monsters Memos: Scooter Smith made his Lock Monsters debut tonight. He is the 51st player to appear in a game for Lowell this season, and the fifth player in the lineup on a Professional Try-Out.

The Monsters head to Albany next for a 5:00 p.m. contest on Saturday against the River Rats. They host the Springfield Falcons this Sunday, March 12th at 4:05 p.m. Sundays are Family Four Pack games, featuring 4 tickets, 4 scrumptious hot dogs and 4 refreshing Pepsis for just $49.
