Indianapolis Indians News Release

PAPILLION, Neb. - Travis Swaggerty launched a go-ahead, three-run home run in the seventh inning to lift the Indianapolis Indians to a 5-2 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Friday night. The long ball was Swaggerty's fourth of the season and gave Indy starting pitcher Bryse Wilson his second win in as many starts.

Trailing 2-1 in the seventh, Indianapolis (26-25) needed just three plate appearances to turn its deficit into a two-run lead. Josh Bissonette worked a leadoff walk against Zach Willeman (L, 1-1), and Oneil Cruz followed with an infield single to short. Swaggerty then rocketed a 1-0 offering over the wall in straightaway center to give Indy its first lead of the night.

The Indians extended their lead in the ninth thanks to a Ji-hwan Bae single and Mason Martin RBI double. Austin Brice (S, 2) recorded the final two outs in the home half for the save.

Wilson (W, 2-0) dazzled over 7.0 innings of two-run ball. He yielded three hits - two as solo home runs by Nate Eaton in the third and Clay Dungan in the fourth - and one walk with five punchouts. He dueled with Omaha (26-25) starter Austin Cox who allowed one run in 6.0 innings on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Held scoreless through five innings, Swaggerty sparked Indy's offense in the sixth with a leadoff double. Three batters later, Bligh Madris laced a run-scoring double to left field to bring Indianapolis within one run.

In 16 games since May 17, Swaggerty is batting .397 (25-for-63) with three homers, two triples, four doubles, 14 RBI and a 1.132 OPS.

The Indians and Storm Chasers continue their series on Saturday at 8:05 PM ET. Indianapolis has not yet named its starter while Omaha will give RHP Carlos Hernandez (1-1, 3.97) the nod.
