Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Shortstop Romy González recorded a two-hit game, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game four of the six-game series against the Memphis Redbirds by a score of 8-2 on Friday night in front of 9,003 fans at Truist Field.
Chicago White Sox RHP Lance Lynn (0-1, 3.86) started for the Knights on a major league rehab assignment and allowed three runs on four hits over four innings of work. Lynn, who was saddled with the loss, walked one batter and struck-out two. He allowed two home runs on the night, which helped the Redbirds get past the Knights for the third time in the series.
Lynn allowed home runs to Ali Sanchez, a solo shot in the third inning, and Paul DeJong, a two-run shot in the fourth inning. In all, the Redbirds hit a total of three home runs on the night. Ben DeLuzio added a two-run shot in the ninth inning off RHP Kade McClure.
The Knights posted two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to an RBI single from first baseman Seby Zavala and an RBI double from third baseman Zach Remillard. The team tallied eight hits on the night and González led the way with a two-hit performance.
The Knights will continue the series against the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) on Saturday night with a 7:04 p.m. game from Uptown Charlotte. The game can also be heard live on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action.
