The Checkers sit in first place in the ECHL's East Division with a record of 24-14-2 and 50 points. The Stingrays will try to set a new franchise mark at ten straight wins.

Saturday, January 29, 2005 @ Gwinnett – 7:30 Arena at Gwinnett Center

The Stingrays have a road record of 8-10-2. Gwinnett sits in third place in the South Division with a record of 20-13-4. At home the Gladiators have a mark of 11-5-2.

The Week That Was:

Tuesday, January 18 Stingrays 4 Vs Johnstown 3

Jonas Johansson scored the game winning goal for the Stingrays and Maxime Daigneault made 29 saves for his fourth straight victory. Streaking forward Rich Peverley had another two goals in the win for the Stingrays.

Friday, January 21 Stingrays 3 @ Columbia 1

Jeremy Stevenson had the game winning goal on the power play in the second and Kirk Daubenspeck helped the Stingrays to their third straight road win. Rich Peverley netted his team leading sixth first goal of the game.

Saturday, January 22 Stingrays 3 Vs Louisiana 1

Carlyle Lewis had the game winning goal for the Stingrays in front of a 31 save performance by Kirk Daubenspeck for the win.

Sunday, January 23 Stingrays 4 Vs Johnstown 2

The Stingrays tie the franchise winning streak mark at nine games with two more power play goals. Joe Tenute sparked the Stingrays offensively with two goals and rookie Maxime Daigneault won his fifth straight start.

The Team:

The Stingrays have won nine consecutive games to tie a franchise record and move all the way into third place in the division with a record of 21-14-3. The Stingrays are now 13-4-1 at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Rays special teams have been very impressive in January. The team's power play is clicking at 37% for the month and is now second in the league at 20%. The penalty kill has held the opposition to 5% on the power play in January and continues to be the top ranked kill in the league at 91.5%.

The Players:

Rich Peverley has nine goals and six assists in January for 15 points. Peverley, Matt Reid and Joe Tenute are all tied for the team lead in goals with 16. Tenute and Peverley are each among the leagues leading rookies in scoring; Tenute has 33 points while Peverley has 29. Mark Ardelan leads all ECHL defensemen with nine goals and his 22 points have him on the league leaders list. Maxime Daigneault has won five straight starts and has a GAA of 1.78 in that stretch.

All Star Party:

Wednesday's 2005 Coors Light ECHL All Star Game will air live on CSS and 950 AM the Team. Manny's Greek American in West Ashley will be having a viewing party with half price pizza and drink specials for Stingrays Fans. Jason Fitzsimmons will be on hand and Rich Peverley and Aaron Power will be guest bartenders. Stingrays Mark Ardelan and Joe Tenute will be taking part in the All Star game in Reading.
