Texas Wildcatters News Release
Beaumont, TX (January 24, 2005)â The Texas Wildcatters, an affiliate of the Florida Panthers (NHL) and San Antonio Rampage (AHL), won back-to-back games for the first time this season 4-3 over the Augusta Lynx to closeout the weekend, finishing the week 2-1-0.
On Monday, the Wildcatters closed out their five-game road trip with a 4-2 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Gladiators jumped out to a two goal lead and it was too much for the Wildcatters to overcome. John Snowden scored the first âCatters goal at the 12:01 mark of the second. Mark Giannetti scored his second goal in just his third game with the Wildcatters at the 10:50 mark of the third. Phil Osaer faced 35 shots turning aside 31 for the loss.
On Saturday, the âCatters grabbed their first win of 2005, 4-3 over the Lynx at Ford Arena. Texas jumped out to 3-1 lead on a pair of goals from Kevin Cooper and a John Snowden tally. The Lynx made it close when they scored two goals in two minutes to tie the game in the third period. Andrew Ianiero was the hero of the game when he scored at the 17:40 mark of the third. Phil Osaer turned aside 30 shots in the win.
On Sunday, Texas won their first shootout of the season 4-3 in the rematch against Augusta. New addition Kevin Cooper was the only player to score a goal in the shootout. The other Wildcatters goals were scored by Mark Giannetti and Terry Marchant who netted a pair against his former team. Phil Osaer turned aside 32 shots and stoned five shooters in the shootout for the victory.
The Wildcatters have a few days off for the All-Star break and then face-off for a pair of games against the Greenville Grrrowl on Friday and Saturday in Beaumont. Both games will start at 7:05 p.m. Fans can catch all the action on ESPN Radio 1450 the Ticket.
