Royals enter All-Star break in first place

The Reading Royals and Trenton Titans were scheduled to meet in back-to-back games in the Sovereign Center this week. However, only one of the games was played due to inclement weather that struck the Northeast on Saturday. Reading beat Trenton for the second straight time on Friday night before 5,717 fans in the Sovereign Center. The 8-5 victory marked a season-high for goals in a game (8) and combined goals by both teams in a game (13). The contest featured seven power-play goals, four by Reading and three by Trenton, which is a season-high for and against. Reading and Trenton's second meeting on Saturday in the Sovereign Center was postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday, February 15 at 7:05 p.m.

The Reading Royals and City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th Annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Both events begin at 7:05 p.m. in the Sovereign Center. The Royals step back into ECHL regular-season play on Friday in the Sports Arena against the Storm. Reading will battle Wheeling Saturday night in Wes Banco Arena in West Virginia before finishing the week in the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday afternoon. Friday, January 21 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET GAME NOTES: Reading won its second straight decision over the Trenton Titans, 8-5, to improve their record to 2-3-0. Reading set season-high marks for goals in a game (8), power-play goals (4) and combined goals in a game (13). Fourteen of Reading's sixteen skaters figured into the scoring led by defenseman Ian Turner (3) and Larry Courville (1g, 2a), who each notched three-point efforts.

Saturday, January 22 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center - POSTPONED 7:05PM ET GAME NOTES: Due to the inclement weather Reading and Trenton's sixth meeting this season was postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday, February 15 in the Sovereign Center at 7:05 p.m. All tickets purchased for the January 22 affair will be honored on February 15.

Tuesday, January 25 ECHL All-Star Skills Competition Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET GAME NOTES: ECHL All-Star Skills Competition at the Sovereign Center. Featured Royals in the event will be #16 Ryan Kinasewich and #13 Jon Francisco.

Wednesday, January 26 ECHL All-Star Game Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET GAME NOTES: The 13th Annual ECHL All-Star Game presented by Coors Light features the future stars of the American Conference against the National Conference. The first 1,500 fans receive Coors Light goalie masks.

Friday, January 28 @ Toledo Sports Arena 7:30PM ET GAME NOTES: The Royals and Storm meet for the fourth time this season and third battle in the Sports Arena in Toledo. Reading won the last contest in the Sovereign Center, 4-2, on January 16. Reading is 2-0-1 against Toledo this season with five more meetings remaining.

Saturday, January 29 @ Wheeling Wes Banco Arena 7:30PM ET GAME NOTES: After struggling with Wheeling in the regular season last year, the Royals have rebounded with a 4-2-0 mark this season. This is the seventh meeting of the season between North Division Rivals. Reading has posted identical 2-1-0 records at home and on the road against Wheeling.

Sunday, January 30 @ Dayton Nutter Center 2:00PM ET GAME NOTES: Reading and Dayton have met just twice this season with seven more battles to go. The Royals have posted a perfect 2-0-0 record against the Bombers. Reading shut out Dayton 3-0 on November 13 in the Sovereign Center and then posted their largest margin of victory this season a 7-1 in the Nutter Center on November 21.

In his only appearance, Brust entered the game just passed the midway point and stopped eight of nine shots to preserve Reading's 8-5 win. The rookie goaltender has now won three straight games, all at home in the Sovereign Center.
