Massie Scores Player of the Week Honor

Fort Wayne, IN --- The United Hockey League announced today that Komet's left wing Michel Massie has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week for the period of Oct. 21-Oct. 27, 2002.

Massie finished the third week of the season with six points (3g, 3a) in three games. He opened the week with one goal in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Rockford IceHogs and notched four points (1g, 3a) on Saturday, leading the Komets to a 7-3 win over the Western Conference leading Quad City Mallards.

The 25-year-old Montreal, Quebec native extended his four game goal-scoring streak tallying a power play goal on Sunday against the Missouri River Otters. Massie has recorded at least one point in each of the 5 games he has played (4g, 5a) this season and leads the Komets with 4 goals (3 ppg), 9 points, +5 and 31 penalty minutes. Massie is in his 5th pro year and 2nd season with the Komets.

Winger Darcy Johnson waived.....the Komets announced today that winger Darcy Johnson has been placed on waivers. Johnson has been with the club since training camp and appeared in 3 games (0g, 0a, +1, 0 pim).

The waiving of Johnson trims the Komet roster to 23 players including 12 forwards, 8 defensemen and 3 goaltenders.
