Augusta Lynx News Release
LAST OF THE UNBEATENS...The Admirals and Houston Aeros start the week as the two remaining unbeaten teams in the AHL. Houston sports a league-leading 8-0-0-0 mark while Milwaukee has two ties to go along with their three wins. The Norfolk Admirals have not lost in regulation but dropped an overtime game earlier this season. Milwaukee will be challenged to keep the unbeaten record in tact with four games scheduled in five days beginning Wednesday.
VS. WOLVES...Two more meetings with the Chicago Wolves are on tap this week. Each team will play host to a game on its home ice. Last Saturday, the Admirals scored a 3-2 come from behind overtime victory at the Bradley Center. Cameron Mann scored on a rebound for the game-winner. Milwaukee is now 23-11-0-8 all-time in 1-goal games against Chicago. The Admirals are 5-2-1-1 in their last nine games at the Allstate Arena. Milwaukee is 43-29-1-8 all-time vs. Chicago with a home record of 25-15-0-4 and a road mark of 18-14-1-4.
VS. WOLF PACK...As if the Chicago version wasn't enough, an entire pack of Wolves await the Admirals on Friday night when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack for the first time ever. The two teams will also collide in Hartford on Valentine's Day. The Wolf Pack is the top developmental affiliate for the New York Rangers.
VS. GRIFFINS...Saturday night marks the first meeting of the year between the Admirals and Grand Rapids Griffins. All-time, Milwaukee is 16-22-4-2. All of the tie games in the series came last year. The Admirals are 0-4-1-0 in their last five games in Grand Rapids. Their last win there came on November 16, 2001 when Jan Lasak recorded a 1-0 shutout.
ROSTER REVISIONS...Saturday, the Nashville Predators recalled forward Greg Classen while center Erik Anderson was reassigned to Milwaukee from Toledo (ECHL) where he was the Storm's leading scorer. Nashville reassigned defenseman Pascal Trepanier to the Admirals Wednesday.
HE'S THE MANN...Cameron Mann registered his third multiple-point game of the year Saturday night. He has recorded at least one point in four of the first five games and is second in team scoring with eight points (3g-5a). His overtime goal Saturday night was his first game-winner of the year.
THE NEW "TRIPLE H"...Rookies Darren Haydar, Dan Hamhuis and Andrew Hutchinson didn't take long to make their mark in the scoring column. Haydar is off to a sizzling start with a team-leading nine points (5g-4a) and +9. He has scored at least one point in every game and has been +2 in four of the five games. The former New Hampshire Wildcat has registered a game-tying goal (10/25) and game-winning goal (10/23) already this season. Hutchinson's first lamplighter came on the power play vs. Cleveland (10/18). Hutchinson has since added a power play goal and leads Admiral defensemen in scoring with four points (2g-2a) and with a +3. Hamhuis netted his first professional goal at 13:57 of the third period in the season opener against the Rampage. The rookie blueliner has been plus or even in all five games.
AFTERNOON DELIGHT...Last season, Milwaukee was 6-1-2-1 in ten afternoon games. The Admirals were 4-0-1-1 in six afternoon games at the Bradley Center. They'll face off against Chicago at 5:12 Sunday afternoon for their first early start of the year.
GOAL-TO-GOAL...Goaltender Jan Lasak accomplished a rare netminding accomplishment by recording a multiple-point game Wednesday vs. San Antonio. Lasak earned two assists in the 4-2 win. The two assists tie him for seventh in team scoring. The Admirals' goalie has played all 311 minutes so far this season and like the team is 3-0-2-0. His goals-against-average (2.31) ranks ninth in the league.
KILL OR BE KILLED...The Admirals are ranked second in the league in killing penalties. They've extinguished 31/34 opponent power plays for a 91.2% clip through five games. In the last three games, Milwaukee has thwarted 22/23 opponent power play opportunities.
