
Byfuglien Signed, Bowtell Placed on Injured Reserve, Hyacinthe Suspended

BILOXI, Miss. â Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today defenseman Derrick Byfuglien (BUFF-len) signed a one-year contract. Forward Cody Bowtell (BOE-tell) has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve and right wing Seneque Hyacinthe (Suh-NEEK HI-ah-cinth) has been suspended.
Byfuglien, 21, was acquired by the Sea Wolves in a trade with the Roanoke Express on August 15, along with Chris Cava. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Roseau, Minnesota attended the 2002 training camp of the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League and rookie camp of the National Hockey League Ottawa Senators. Last season, Byfuglien split the year between the Florida Everblades and Roanoke of the East Coast Hockey League. He scored a total of five goals, picked up six assists for 11 points and 120 penalty minutes.
Bowtell, 28, is returning to Calgary, Alberta for one week to write a Dental Admissions Test. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Wainwright, Alberta has six goals and four assists in 10 games for the Sea Wolves this season. Bowtell leads the ECHL with three game-winning goals.
Hyacinthe, 21, accumulated six penalty minutes in three games with Mississippi.
The Sea Wolves get back into action at 7:35 p.m. on Friday against the Arkansas RiverBlades at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. On Saturday, Mississippi travels to Pensacola, for a 7:05 p.m. opening faceoff. The Sea Wolves complete their three games in three days with a Sunday tilt against the Louisiana IceGators at 5:05 p.m. at the Wolves Den.
