UPCOMING WEEK: The Generals play three games in three nights for the first time this season. Greensboro hosts the Pee Dee Pride on Halloween night at a special start time of 8:00. Thursday's game is the first of ten "Thirsty Thursday" nights, with dollar drafts being poured all game. In addition, all ten Thursday games will feature a live local band in concert immediately following the contest in the Coliseum plaza. This Thursday's post-game concert will be performed by Blue Bambooza. Naturally, with Thursday being Halloween night, the game will also feature an on-ice costume contest with prizes given away to the people wearing the best get-ups. On Friday at 7:30, the Generals wrap up a four game homestand against the first-year Lexington Men O' War. The game features Ace Speedway's NASCAR Weekly Racing series driver Mike Bledsole and his #83 Generals sponsored Super Stock race car. The week closes on Saturday with the first of eight meetings between the Generals and their in-state rival Charlotte Checkers. Face-off on Saturday is at 7:35 at Cricket Arena in Charlotte. LAST WEEK: 10/25 READING 2, GREENSBORO 3 ¨ The Generals won their home opener in front of 4,123 fans. After falling behind 1-0 to the Royals in the first minute of the game, Greensboro responded with first period goals from David Whitworth and Matt Turek to take the lead. Captain Jay Murphy scored the eventual game-winning goal in the second period to give the Generals a 3-1 advantage. Goaltender Daniel Berthiaume preserved the victory from there, turning aside 32 of 34 shots on the night.
10/26 RICHMOND 3, GREENSBORO 2 (OT) ¨ David Whitworth put the Generals on top with a shorthanded goal in the first period, only to have the Renegades even the score and then take the lead early in the second period. Greensboro knotted the score 2-2 in the final minute of the second period, with Vlad Serov netting his first goal of the season after a tremendous individual effort from Andrei Lupandin to set him up. The game remained tied through regulation, but Richmond was given a power play opportunity in overtime, with Lars Pettersen capitalizing for the victory.
TRANSACTIONS: 10/26 Placed left wing Matt Turek on the 7-day injured list.
10/26 Activated right wing Matt Chandler from the 7-day injured list.

UPCOMING COMMUNITY
APPEARANCES: "Generals University" is in session three times this week. Generals players David Whitworth and Chris Bell will be at Southern Elementary School this afternoon. "Generals University" will also make a trip to Washington Elementary in Greensboro on Tuesday, and Oak Hill Elementary on Wednesday.
Generals players Kurt Drummond and Sam Ftorek will be appearing on WGHP Fox 8's morning show with Danny Harnden tomorrow. The Generals cheerleaders, the Ice Girls, will also be on hand for segments at 6:45, 7:15, and 7:45.
NOTABLES: ¨ Five of the Generals first seven games have been decided by one goal, with three of them going to overtime or shootout.
¨ David Whitworth has a goal in five of the Generals seven games, including the team's first shorthanded score of the season on Saturday against Richmond.
¨ Greensboro has not been outshot since opening night at Lexington.
¨ The Generals have only allowed four third period goals through the first seven games.
¨ The Generals are currently in a stretch of 14 games with only three of them on the road. The three games are all either in Charlotte or Roanoke.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE:
GOALIE: Daniel Berthiaume â Berthiaume was 1-0-1 for the week with a 2.48 goals against average and .919 save percentage. He was voted the Hardee's first star of the game in the Generals 3-2 victory over Reading, stopping 32 of 34 shots.
