Komets Earn Four-Point road Trip

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets are yet to play a home game and still have one weekend road tour before the season home opener Nov. 9 at the newly renovated Memorial Coliseum. This past weekend was the 3rd straight on the road for the Komets and 2nd straight of 3 games in 3 nights.

Friday night the Komets took a 3-2 win out of Rockford and evened the series 1-1. Dustin Virag, Michel Massie and Adam Lewis (gw) scored for the Komets while Tom Lawson earned his 2nd straight win stopping 19 of 21 IceHog shots.

Saturday the Komets traveled to Quad City and trounced the Mallards 7-3 in the first meeting of the season. Sean Venedam scored twice while Massie, Virag, Colin Chaulk, Jason Selleke and David-Alexandre Beauregard each picked up a goal. Kelly Perrault passed 4 assists to become the first Komet to score 4 assists in the UHL while on the road. It was the 15th time the Komets netted 7 or more goals in a UHL game. Netminder Scott Rideout earned his 2nd win of the season allowing 3 goals on 31 Mallard shots.

Sunday the Komets finished their 3-game weekend tour with a 5-1 loss at Missouri. It was the first meeting out of 10 this season and the Komet's 5th straight loss to Missouri. The Komets outshot the River Otters 34-29 and have outshot opponents in 5 straight outings. Massie scored the lone Komet goal on the power play and Lawson suffered his first loss of the season making 24 saves on 29 shots.

This weekend the Komets continue road-bound playing at Elmira Friday before traveling to Flint Saturday. The Komets will then play at Flint the following Friday night, Nov. 8 before the big home opener slated for Saturday, Nov. 9 at the new coliseum. Milestones.....David-Alexandre Beauregard appeared in his 200th regular season UHL games Saturday 10/26 at Quad City and scored his first goal of the season....Colin Chaulk skated his 100th career UHL game Sunday 10/27 at Missouri.

Milestones ahead......David-Alexandre Beauregard has registered 98 career UHL assists.....Colin Chaulk has passed 195 career assists.....Bobby Stewart has netted 97 regular season goals in his pro career.

Streaking Komets.....Michel Massie has points in each game he has played to date for a 5-game point-scoring streak (4g, 5a, 9pts) and a 4-game goal streak (4g).....Dustin Virag is riding a 4-game point streak (2g, 6a, 8pts).

The I.R. List....Pokey Reddick 21-day, 10/11.....Kevin Bertram 14-day, 10/19.....Ken Boone 10-day, 10/24.....Bart Stevens 7-day, 10/25.

Komets add Ortmeyer to roster.....defenseman Jake Ortmeyer was added to the roster Wednesday, 10/23. He started this season playing 3 games with Trenton of the ECHL. Ortmeyer skated the past 4 seasons with Miami University-Ohio in the NCAA. Ortmeyer appeared in all 3 Komet games over the weekend and earned 2 assists.

3 road games to go.....the Komets have 3 of 10 road games remaining before the much-anticipated Fort Wayne home opener Nov. 9 at the new Memorial Coliseum.
