Mississippi Rallies in All Three Weekend Victories

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Sea Wolves staged come from behind efforts in all three games to win three straight over the weekend. On Friday, Mississippi trailed 3-1 at Baton Rouge, but rallied to score four straight goals and beat the Kingfish 5-4. Saturday night, Pensacola opened up a 2-0 lead, however the Sea Wolves tied it up and beat the Ice Pilots 3-2 in the shootout. Then Sunday, Baton Rouge scored the first goal, but Mississippi replied with four unanswered goals, winning 4-1 over the Kingfish.

It's the first of 12 head-to-head meetings between the teams. Last year, Mississippi went 5-2 against Arkansas overall, 3-0 at the Wolves Den. Sea Wolves forward Darryl Campbell plays his first game against his former team. Saturday, Nov. 2 at Pensacola – 7:05 p.m. – Pensacola Civic Center

It's the third straight Saturday, Mississippi and Pensacola battle it out. The Sea Wolves won the first two games both at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. On Saturday, the Sea Wolves rallied from a 2-0 deficit, winning 3-2 in the shootout. This is the first of six games between the teams at the Hangar.

Mississippi defenseman Jim Baxter has one goal and three assists to lead the way for the Sea Wolves against Pensacola. Ice Pilots are led by Louis Dumont. He has collected one goal and three assists against Mississippi.

Sunday, Nov. 3 vs. Louisiana – 5:05 p.m. – Mississippi Coast Coliseum

Both of Mississippi's losses have come against Louisiana. The IceGators beat the Sea Wolves 5-3 on October 20 at the Wolves Den. Louisiana also doubled up Mississippi 4-2 at the Cajundome on October 18.

Louisiana's Shawn McNeil has scored four goals in the two games, including a pair of goals in each game against Mississippi. IceGators' Nathan Rempel and Kevin Mitchell each have four assists against the Sea Wolves. Mississippi has been led by captain Steffon Walby, with one goal and three assists in the two losses against the Gators.

Player of the Week:

For the second straight week, Sea Wolves assistant coach and captain Steffon Walby earns the team honors. The right wing scored two goals and collected four assists for a total of six points. The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Lodi, Wisconsin tallied a key shorthanded goal and chipped in two assists in the come from behind win on Friday at Baton Rouge. Walby was held off the scoresheet for the first time this season on Saturday in the Sea Wolves win against Pensacola. Then Sunday, he scored a power play marker and added two assists in the victory over Baton Rouge. Walby is the East Coast Hockey League leader with 17 points. He has five goals and 12 assists in eight games.

Goaltender of the Week:

Greg Gardner posted victories in all three Sea Wolves wins. The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario made 95 saves on 102 shots, for a .931 save percentage. Gardner also posted a 2.27 goals against average in the three games to improve his record to 6-2-0.

Injured Reserve:

Right Wing Seneque Hyacinthe and defenseman Chris Cava are on the 7-day injured reserve. Goaltender Mike Buckley along with defensemen David Cornacchia and Steve Bewley remain on the 30-day IR.

Streaking Sea Wolves:

Forward Darryl Campbell has a three-game point streak (1g-2a).
Defenseman Jim Baxter has points in two straight games (1g-2a).
Veteran forward Dave Paradise has a two-game point streak (1g-1a).
