Brampton Beast News Release
CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA - Goaltender Will King turned in a stellar performance in his first game with the Brampton Beast, stopping all but one of the 22 shots he faced, but he was outdueled by the opposing netminder Jeff Jakaitis, who turned away 32 shots to help the South Carolina Stingrays to a 1-0 win on Friday night in South Carolina.
After a scoreless opening frame that saw both teams earn six shots on goal, the Stingrays found the back of the net at 4:59 of the second period. Taylor Cammarata cut in on a partial breakaway on the right wing side and lifted a shot over the glove of King to give the Stingrays a lead they would not relinquish.
The Beast threw everything they had at the South Carolina netminder in the third period, firing 16 pucks on goal but he was able to stop them all to preserve the shutout.
NOTES: The Beast finished the game 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. These two teams will complete the two-game series tomorrow night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05PM.
