Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. - It was a very impressive victory Friday night for the Long Beach Ice Dogs (23-16-5) who not only defeated one of the top teams in the ECHL, the Las Vegas Wranglers (32-8-4), but also saw Sean McAslan put on a show with four goals and one assist. It was the first four goal performance for an Ice Dog since Nolan Graham did it back on March 7, 2004.

The Ice Dogs got it started just 36 seconds into the game with the first of McAslan's four goals. Christian Larrivee and Justin Aikins assisted on the play. Less than two minutes later, the Wranglers tied the score at 1-1 with a goal by Matt Dzieduszycki from Steve Crampton and Dan Tudin.

At 3:29 of the second, McAslan scored again, this time on the power play from Cory Urquhart and Aikins. However, at 4:54 the Wranglers tied it again from Adam Pardy and Dan Tudin. Las Vegas then took a 3-2 lead on the power play at 12:04 with the second goal of the game for Dzieduszycki, from Christian Chartier and Steve Crampton. But McAslan completed his natural hat trick at 14:56 to tie the score at 3-3 from Larrivee and Aikins. At 16:35, the Ice Dogs regained the lead with a goal by Steeve Villeneuve on the power play from Urquhart and McAslan.

The third period remained nearly scoreless until McAslan scored his fourth of the night on an empty net goal with 46 seconds remaining in the game. Justin Aikins got his third assist of the night on the play as the Ice Dogs won 5-3 for their first win this year against Las Vegas.

Greg Hewitt got the win for Long Beach with 36 saves, while Marc Magliarditi took the loss for Las Vegas with 22 saves. The Ice Dogs were 2-4 on the power play while the Wranglers went 1-5.

The Ice Dogs' next game is tomorrow night versus the San Diego Gulls at the Long Beach Arena. Game time is at 7pm. For more information call (562) ICE-DOGS for visit www.icedogs.com.
