Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - Aaron Foster scored two goals for the Stockton Thunder (8-23-7, 23 points), but it was not enough as Stockton fell to the Alaska Aces (35-6-3, 73 points) 6-3 in front of 6,271 at Stockton Arena on Friday night.

The Thunder grabbed an early lead when Geno Parrish ripped a slap shot from the blueline and Foster was able to deflect the puck for a goal just 55 seconds into the game. Alaska answered back by scoring three goals in the next 4:07. Foster netted his second goal of the game at 17:41 on a wrist shot from the right point.

Alaska's Mike Scott added a goal at 6:28 in the second, his first of two goals on the night, while Joe Talbot added a goal in front to extend their lead to 5-2 by the end of the second period.

Joel Irwin continued his hot streak for the Thunder, picking up an unassisted goal at 7:30 in the third period after scoring from a sharp-angle bid to cut Alaska's lead to 5-3, but Scott answered for the Aces on a breakaway just 1:44 later to ice the game at 6-3.

Irwin has now picked up at least one point in seven of his last eight games, along with five goals and six assists in that stretch. The Thunder was unable to score in six opportunities on the power play tonight against Alaska, who rank at the top of the league on the penalty kill.

The Thunder returns to play on Saturday against the Aces with a 7:30 p.m. PT face-off at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for viewing at a $6 "pay-per-view" rate at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B-2 Networks.
