Titans fall to Storm, 5-1

TRENTON, NJ (February 3, 2006) - The Trenton Titans dropped their third straight game in a 5-0 loss to the Toledo Storm Friday night in front of 4,071 at Sovereign Bank Arena.

Toledo was able to extend their unbeaten streak to eight games after a dominating second period, The Storm erupted for three goals during the frame to put the Titans in a 3-0 hole entering the final phase of play. Bracken Kearns and Jason Maeyko helped Toledo go 2-for-3 on the power play during the second, while Scooter Smith added an even-strength tally with at 18:23.

The Titans mounted a small comeback when Chris Pittman stuffed home a power play goal at 10:25 of the third period ending a scoreless streak of 171:40. Toledo, however, answered just under three minutes later on Brad Bonello's eight of the year. .

Kearns added his second of the night at 14:35 to complete the scoring.

Scott Stirling suffered his second straight loss while stopping 33 of 38. Toledo goaltender Drew MacIntyre turned away all but one of 39 Trenton shots and remained undefeated in regulation at 6-0-2.

The Titans were 1-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill.
