Saviano named ECHL Player of the Month

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades forward Steve Saviano was named the ECHL's CCM Tacks Player of the Month for the month of January, it was announced by the league today.
Saviano, who is currently on call-up to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League, tallied 17 points (5g, 12a) in eight games with the Everblades during January. The 24-year-old finished the month with a plus-5 rating, three power play goals and two game-winning goals. In 17 total games with the Everblades this year, Saviano has picked up 31 points (10g, 21a) and has notched a point in 14 of those 17 games.
Savino earned his second call up to the Lock Monsters this season on January 20 and has overall scored six goals and two assists in 21 total games with Lowell, including four goals and one assist in his last two games.
The native of Reading, Massachusetts was re-assigned to the Everblades from Lowell on January 3 and promptly scored four points in a 6-1 Everblades win over the Pensacola Ice Pilots. The former University of New Hampshire product followed by scoring points in the next six games, including multiple points in four of them. In all, Saviano has scored multiple points in nine of 17 games with the Everblades.
Saviano made his rookie debut in 2004-05 splitting the season between the Everblades and Lock Monsters. Saviano began last season by skating in six games with the Lock Monsters, and finished the year with 52 points (14g, 38a) in 58 games with Florida. In the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Saviano notched 18 points in 17 games.
Prior to turning pro, Saviano played in 139 career games with UNH, notching 50 goals and 67 assists. Following his senior year, Saviano was named the Hockey East Player of the Year, tallying 49 points in 41 games.
The Everblades return to action tonight when they host the Idaho Steelheads at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena. Everblades half season, group tickets, and individual game tickets are on sale now!
