Chiefs "To Pass The Hat" For Local High School Hockey Player Saturday Night

Johnstown, PA (February 3, 2006) - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today, that they will be holding a "pass the hat," collection for local high school hockey player Nick Iachini, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Iachini, 17, is a senior on the Bishop Guilfoyle high school hockey team. Hockey players from Bishop McCort and Westmont high schools will be assisting in the collection that will take place during the Johnstown Chiefs vs. Dayton Bombers game Saturday night. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. Proceeds of the collection will help off set the rising costs of treatment and the loss of wages from Iachini's mother who had to quit her job to care for her son.

A benefit dance is also being held on February 4th from 7:00 to 11:00 pm, at the Bavarian Hall in Altoona, Pa., to benefit Iachini. Donations for a silent sports auction have been requested and include: an autographed Mark Recchi and John LeClair Pittsburgh Penguins jersey, a Sidney Crosby jersey, an autographed Tampa Bay Lightning jersey signed by Vincent Lecavlier, Brad Richards and Martin St. Louis (with a certificate of authenticity, provided by the Johnstown Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Lightning), a Johnstown Chiefs autographed jersey and stick and many other items.

The 2005-06 season sponsored by First National Bank is in full swing. The Chiefs are in action Saturday night when they host the Dayton Bombers at 7:00 p.m. It will also be a Steelers pep rally.
