Everblades' Saviano Named CCM TACKS Player Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Steve Saviano of the Florida Everblades is the CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for January.

Reassigned to the Everblades from Lowell of the American Hockey League on Jan. 3, the 24-year-old began the month with a seven-game scoring streak scoring two game-winning goals and 17 points (5g-12a) in eight games before being recalled to Lowell on Jan. 19. Under contract to Lowell, Saviano has eight points (2g-6a) and 12 penalty minutes in 21 games with Lowell.

He had four multiple-assist games, including three assists on Jan. 3 at Pensacola and Jan. 15 at Bakersfield, and five multiple-point games, including four points at Pensacola (1g-3a) on Jan. 3 and against Pensacola on Jan. 7 (2g-2a).

The 5-foot-8 and 180-pound Saviano has 31 points (10g-21a) in 17 games and leads the Everblades with three shorthand goals while ranking second with three game-winning goals and a plus-minus rating of +10.

In his first professional season in 2004-05, Saviano had 52 points (14g-38a) in 58 regular season and 18 points (4g-14a) in 17 Kelly Cup Playoff games for the Everblades while also picking up an assist in six games with Lowell.

The native of Reading, Mass. played four years at the University of New Hampshire from 2000-04 and helped the Wildcats win the Hockey East Championship in 2002 and 2003 and get to the NCAA championship game in 2000-01. He had 117 points (50g-67a) in 139 games and was selected as the teamÕs Most Valuable Player and Hockey East Player of the Year in 2003-04 after scoring 49 points (27g-22a) in 41 games.
