San Antonio Rampage News Release
SUNRISE, Fla. â Mar. 9, 2004 â Florida Panthers General Manager Rick Dudley announced today that the Panthers have acquired RW Paul Healey from the New York Rangers in exchange for D Jeff Paul. Healey, who will turn 29 on March 20, has played four games with the Rangers this season, without registering a point. He will report to Florida's American Hockey League affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
Healy, a 6-foot-2, 207-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, skated in 50 AHL games this season with the Hartford Wolf Pack, scoring 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) with 37 penalty minutes. In 75 career NHL games with New York, Toronto and Philadelphia, Healey has scored 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) with 30 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 22 NHL playoff games, posting two assists. Healey was an eighth-round choice of the Flyers in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 548 career games in the American and International Hockey Leagues, scoring 363 points (192 goals, 171 assists). He won the 1998 Calder Cup as a member of the 1998 Philadelphia Phantoms.
Paul, 26, played in 57 games with the Rampage this season, scoring eight points (two goals, six assists) with a team high 174 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound native of London, Ontario has played two career NHL games (with Colorado), notching seven penalty minutes. The Panthers signed Paul as an unrestricted free agent on Aug. 19, 2003. Paul was originally drafted in the second round (42nd overall) by Chicago in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
GREEN CLAIMED BY RANGERS, KELMAN REASSIGNED
The New York Rangers acquired center Mike Green from the Florida Panthers by claiming him off waivers. Green, 24, has skated in 11 matches with Florida this season, registering one assist and two penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on February 3 at San Jose and recorded his first NHL point on February 12 vs. Pittsburgh. He has also appeared in 45 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL), registering 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points, along with 16 penalty minutes. He signed with Florida as a free agent on March 29, 2000.
The 5-11, 195-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia has skated in 171 career AHL games with San Antonio, the Louisville Panthers and Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, recording 42 goals and 67 assists for 109 points, along with 49 penalty minutes.
In addition, San Antonio Rampage General Manager Bobby Jay announced today that the Rampage has reassigned center Scott Kelman to the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Winnipeg, Manitoba native has registered 1-4-5 totals and 14 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Rampage this season. He also has recorded 14-28-42 totals and 94 PIM's in 41 games with Augusta.
