Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that left wing Goran Bezina has been recalled by the Phoenix Coyotes, their National Hockey League affiliate.
Bezina, 23, has registered 19 points (9g, 10a) and 51 penalty minutes (PIM) in 61 games with the Falcons this season. The Split, Croatia native posted his first multiple-goal game of his career when he scored twice in Springfield's 3-2 win over the Portland Pirates last Friday. Bezina was converted to forward this season from his previous position of defense.
Bezina was the Coyotes' eighth selection (8th round, 234th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Today's recall marks the first NHL call-up of his career. The 6'2", 225-pounder has recorded 39 points (14g, 25a) and 128 PIM in 191 games over three seasons with Springfield.
Following a visit to the Manchester Monarchs on Wednesday, the Falcons will return to the Springfield Civic Center to host a pair of home games. The first 3,000 fans in attendance to the club's contest versus the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday night will receive a commemorative poster featuring members of the Falcons' 10th Anniversary Team. On Saturday evening, the Falcons will host Team Jennifer Night in which the players will wear special jerseys that will later be auctioned off through www.falconsahl.com to benefit The Jennifer Ferraro Foundation. Numerous items of autographed hockey memorabilia will also be raffled off at Saturday's game for the benefit of the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation.
