
Calder Cup Tour Stopping In Bridgeport Wednesday

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will host the Calder Cup 2004 Tour tomorrow, Wednesday, March 10th. The Calder Cup; named after the first president of the National Hockey League, Frank Calder, who was instrumental in the formation of the AHL; is making its eighth-annual excursion around the League. The championship trophy will cover more than 11,000 miles as it travels to 19 cities making appearances at games, schools, television and radio stations and other community events.
Fans can tune in to the Sound Tigers' flagship radio station, 600 WICC-AM, during the 9 a.m. hour tomorrow as the Calder Cup, as well as AHL and team representatives, including Voice of the Sound Tigers Bill McLaughlin, join News Director Tim Quinn live on the air. The Calder Cup will then be on display at Roberto's Restaurant at 899 Main Street in the heart of downtown Bridgeport, just up the street from the Arena at Harbor Yard, during lunchtime.
Finally, there will be a Calder Cup 2004 Tour display at the arena when the Sound Tigers host the Providence Bruins tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on WICC and at www.soundtigers.com
The first 2,000 fans who enter tomorrow's game will receive the fourth of five Sound Tigers trading card sets; featuring; CAIL MacLEAN, JUSTIN MAPLETOFT, ALAIN NASREDDINE and TOMI PETTINEN; courtesy of Murphy's Law Bar & Grill. Tomorrow will also be the fourth of five "Family Four Pack Nights". "Family Four Packs" include four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for just $55 and can be purchased by calling 203-334-GOAL. Mapletoft will sign autographs on the arena concourse following tomorrow's game as well.
Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at the Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
