Three New Faces to Join Pack

Hartford, March 9, 2004- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has assigned four players to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Defenseman Jeff Paul joins the Pack from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Paul Healey. The 26 year-old native of London, Ontario has played with the San Antonio Rampage this season, and has scored two goals, six assists for eight points and 174 penalty minutes. The 6' 3" defenseman was originally Chicago's second choice, 42nd overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

Also joining the Pack is forward Alexandre Giroux. Giroux comes by way of the Ottawa Senators with defenseman Karel Rachunek for Greg de Vries. A native of Quebec City, Quebec, the 22 year-old has appeared in 59 games with the Binghamton Senators, registering 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points, along with 79 penalty minutes. He was a seventh round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Martin Grenier has also been assigned to Hartford as a result of a trade with Vancouver which saw the Rangers acquire Grenier and unsigned draft choice R. J. Umberger in exchange for Martin Rucinsky. Grenier has played 38 games with the Manitoba Moose, and has five goals, four assists for nine points and 145 penalty minutes. The 23 year-old also played in seven games with Vancouver this season (1-0-1-9). The 6'5", 245-pound winger was originally the Colorado Avalanche's second round choice, 45th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Benoit Dusablon has also been reassigned to Hartford after making his NHL debut against Boston last Thursday. He was held scoreless in three games. Jason LaBarbera returned to the Pack on Monday.

Defenseman Bryce Lampman has been recalled by New York and is expected to play tonight.

The AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack hockey club is part of Madison Square Garden LP. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in MSG LP, which also includes the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Liberty (WNBA), the MSG Network, Fox Sports Net and the Madison Square Garden arena complex.
