Connecticut Whale News Release


The Whale's 2012-13 season ended Saturday night, with a 5-1 loss at Portland, after Connecticut had dropped a 3-2 decision in Albany on Friday evening. Those two defeats ran the Whale's final season record to 35-32-6-3 for 79 points, leaving the club two points short of a playoff spot in the AHL's Eastern Conference. Kris Newbury scored his 20th goal of the season, and Christian Thomas his 19th, in Friday's game, and Marek Hrivik scored the only Whale goal in Saturday's finale.

* Division leaders are seeded 1, 2, and 3 in Conference standings. Eight teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs: the three division winners will be seeded first through third in order of points, and the next five teams in order of points will be seeded fourth through eighth.

This week:

The Whale coaching staff will be conducting player exit interviews this Tuesday, April 23 at the XL Center, starting at 10:15 AM. Players will be available for media access after their individual interviews, and the coaching staff at the conclusion of the process.
