Columbus Trades Pirjeta to Pittsburgh

Syracuse, NY (March 9, 2004) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired center Brian Holzinger from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for center Lasse Pirjeta.

Pirjeta, 29, appeared in 56 games with the Blue Jackets this season, tallying 2 goals, 8 assists and 20 penalty minutes. In five games with the Syracuse Crunch, Pirjeta has recorded one goal, two assists and two penalty minutes. A native of Oulu, Finland, Pirjeta was Columbus' seventh pick, 133rd overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft.

Syracuse travels to Albany on Wednesday, March 10 for a 7:00 p.m. face-off.
