Grand Rapids, Mich. - Thirteen Grand Rapids Griffins players will take part in the team's third annual Grocery Baggin' fundraiser for ACCESS (All County Churches Emergency Support System) of West Michigan on Monday, March 15 from 6-8 p.m. at four Grand Rapids-area Family Fare supermarkets.
For each sack of groceries bagged by the Griffins that night, Family Fare will donate $1 to ACCESS, which has received $3,000 through the event since its inception in 2002.
Players are scheduled to be dispersed among the four store locations as follows (subject to change):
* 6127 Kalamazoo SE: Hugo Boisvert, Travis Richards, Tim Skarperud
* 2755 Lake Michigan Dr. NW: David Brisson, Danny Groulx, Nathan Robinson
* 5241 Northland Dr. NE: Derek King, Tomas Kopecky, Michel Picard
* 1148 28th Street SW (Rogers Plaza): Ryan Barnes, Joey MacDonald, Aaron Schneekloth, Dave Van Drunen Founded in 1981, ACCESS is a network of more than 250 congregations and individuals throughout West Michigan. The organization oversees the Food Pantry Network of Kent County, a food referral system of 100 pantries designed to respond to those in need of food assistance. ACCESS also offers new pantry start-up help, food drive organization, food fund assistance, volunteer recruitment, computer maintenance and the Holiday Giving Network Program.
