Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, will begin a stretch of three games in three days versus a pair of North Division Rivals. Tonight the Storm will travel down to Cincinnati, Ohio to battle the Cyclones at U.S. Bank Arena at 7:30pm. The two teams will then reunite in Toledo on Friday at 7:35pm from the Toledo Sports Arena. Finally, on Saturday night, the Storm will welcome in the Johnstown Chiefs with a 7:35pm opening face-off.

The Cyclones and Storm have split four meetings this season, with the home team emerging victorious in each contest. The Cyclones took the last meeting on November 22nd by a 2-1 score at U.S. Bank Arena with Jamie Tardif netting the lone goal for Toledo. The season series has been a violent one, as the teams have combined for 295 total penalty minutes. Those numbers equate to more than 25 percent of the teams combined PIM numbers for the entire season. Friday, the scene switches to Toledo, where the Storm are 2-0-0 against the Cyclones.

Following the home-and-home series with the Cyclones, the Storm will welcome in the Johnstown Chiefs to Toledo Sports Arena for a Saturday night meeting at 7:35pm. Saturday will also be the annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Buckeye Cable System. After the Storm score their first goal, fans will throw the teddy bears onto the ice. The bears will be collected and donated to Lucas County Children's Services. In addition to the Teddy Bear Toss, the Storm will be wearing special BCSN Holiday Jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game, with proceeds also going to Lucas County Children's Services.

Lucas County Children's Services' mission is to lead the community in the protection of children at risk of abuse and neglect. This is accomplished by working with families, service providers and community members to assess risk and coordinate community-based services resulting in safe, stable and permanent families for children.
