Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the team has completed a trade with the Phoenix Roadrunners for forward Dan Baum. Phoenix will receive financial considerations in return.
Baum joins the Everblades after playing in 11 games with the Roadrunners this season, where he picked up two assists and 27 penalty minutes. The 23-year-old began the 2006-07 season with the Dayton Bombers where he collected three points (2g, 1a) and eight PIM in seven games.
"Dan is a player that will bring lots of energy to our lineup." Head Coach Gerry Fleming said. "He is a smart player, a good skater and most importantly finishes his checks. He is the type of player that will make the other players on this team feed off his energy."
The 6-1, 197 pound winger was selected in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers and saw action in 24 games with the Greenville Grrrowl in 2005-06, picking up six points (1g, 5a) and 121 PIM. Prior to that Baum spent the entire 2004-05 campaign in the American Hockey League with Edmonton where he scored three goals and added four assists while compiling a career high 206 PIM in 48 games.
The Biggar, Sask. native began his professional career in 2003-04 splitting time with the Toronto Roadrunners of the AHL and the Columbus Cottonmouths of the ECHL. Baum notched a career high ten points (4g, 6a) in 37 games with Toronto and saw action in three games with the Cottonmouths.
Prior to joining the pro ranks, Baum spent three seasons at the junior level with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League. In four seasons with the Cougars, Baum notched 179 points (79g, 100a) and 666 PIM in 258 games.
