Urquhart's Four Points Lead Cyclones To Win

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones forward Cory Urquhart had a goal and three assists in leading the club to a 5-2 win over Toledo Thursday night at U.S. Bank Arena.. Defenseman Jon Gleed scored a pair of goals to help Cincinnati extend its unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).

The Cyclones opened the scoring in the first period when Jon Gleed netted his second goal of the season at 3:46. Gleed's goal came on the power play, with Toledo's Andrew Martin had two seconds remaining in his penalty. Torry Gadja and Cory Urquhart tallied the assists.

The second period saw a five goal explosion, with Toledo getting the first two of the frame to open a 2-1 lead. Mike James (his first) and Jason Maleyko (also his first) netted the goals in the first five minutes. Forward Jean-Michel Daoust collected his seventh lamplighter of the season at 9:08 on the power play, with Urquhart and Rory Rawlyk picking up the assists. At 15:07, Cincinnati took the lead when Barret Ehgoetz scored his sixth goal of the campaign with rookies Greg Stewart and Scott Reynolds adding the helpers. Gleed's second goal of the night and third of the year at 18:54 pushed the lead out to 4-2. Urquhart and Ehgoetz added the assists.

In the third period, Urquhart netted his 15th goal of the season at 10:14-as Gajda and Sam Ftorek secured the assists.

Goaltender Cedrick Desjardins made 26 saves in collecting his ninth win of the season. Desjardins was named to the American Conference All-Star team earlier in the day. He will represent the Cyclones at the ECHL's annual game on January 17 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho.

The Cyclones are 7-0-1 in their last eight home games and are 4-0-1 in their last five overall. Cincinnati has won all three games against Toledo at U.S. Bank Arena this season. The Cyclones are now 13-10-1-1, second in the North Division. Toledo is now 12-9-10-1 and is in third place in the North Division. The teams meet Friday (Dec. 22) at the Toledo Sports Arena at 7pm.
