Gajic returned to Salmon Kings from Manitoba, McLeod back from IR

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that 25-year-old Forward Milan Gajic has been released from a professional tryout contract with Manitoba, and will return to the Salmon Kings line up tonight in Phoenix.

The 6-foot, 180-lb native of Burnaby, British Columbia appeared in five games with the Moose after signing his professional tryout contract on December 5th, 2006. He tallied five points (2 goals, 3 assist), including a three-point night in a 4-1 victory versus the Peoria Rivermen. In 16 games with the Salmon Kings prior to the call up, Gajic earned 19 points (6 goals, 13 assists) and still sits at fourth place in team scoring this season. His career totals now boast six points in 22 games between Manitoba and Providence of the AHL, and 77 points in 57 games between Victoria and Gwinnett in the ECHL. Gajic was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round (#122 overall) of the 2001 NHL entry draft.

In addition, team captain Kiel McLeod is removed from the 3-day injured reserve and will join the frontlines tonight. Forward Warren McCutcheon has been placed in the 3-day injured reserve slot, and Defenseman Andy Zulyniak has been placed on waivers.

McLeod, 23, has played in 18 games with the Victoria Salmon Kings and posted 15 points (11 goals, 4 assists). The 6-foot-6, 235-lb centre was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round (#53 overall) of the 2001 NHL entry draft.

McCutcheon, 24, has scored six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in 20 games of his pro rookie season with the Salmon Kings. The native of Carmen, Manitoba was selected by the New Jersey Devils in round eight (#257 overall) of the 2000 NHL entry draft.

Zulyniak, 21, returned to the Salmon Kings roster from waivers on Dec 9 to support on the blueline. The former Vernon Viper played 12 games in his pro debut and earned one assist.

Victoria begins a two-game series versus the Roadrunners at U.S. Airways Centre tonight in Phoenix. The puck drops at 7:11 p.m. MT (6:11 p.m. PT).

The Salmon Kings return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a three-game series (Dec 29, 30, and Jan 1) against the Alaska Aces. Join the players on the ice after the 1:05 p.m. game on Monday January 1st for another round of "Skate with the Salmon Kings". The skate session is by donation and proceeds benefit the Booster Club.
