
Brunette Named MeiGray ECHL Alumnus Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Hampton Roads and current Colorado Avalanche left
wing Andrew Brunette is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month
for November.
It marks the second straight November and the fourth time overall that the
award has been presented to Brunette, who also received the honor in May
2006 and October 2002.
Selected in the seventh round (174th overall) by the Washington Capitals in
the 1993 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Brunette had 30 points
(12g-18a) and 32 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Hampton Roads
Admirals in 1993-94.
Brunette scored two goals and had 10 points in 14 games for the Avalanche
in November. He scored the game-winning goal and tied his season high with
two goals against Vancouver on Nov. 4 and tied his season high with two
assists on Nov. 7 against Los Angeles and again on Nov. 20 at Dallas.
He played in his 300th consecutive game on Oct. 29 against Minnesota and
ended November having played in 316 consecutive games which is the
fourth-longest current streak in the NHL. Beginning December, Brunette was
fourth on Colorado with 12 assists and was fifth in scoring with 19 points
and tied for fifth with seven goals.
Brunette has played 11 seasons in the NHL and has 436 points (156g-280a)
and 232 penalty minutes in 658 regular season games with Atlanta, Colorado,
Minnesota, Nashville and Washington. He has played in the Stanley Cup
Playoffs three times and has 26 points (11g-15a) and 12 penalty minutes in
33 games with Colorado, Minnesota and Washington.
The ECHL is the top developmental league for both the National Hockey
League and the American Hockey League. It has affiliations with 25 of the
30 teams in the NHL, marking the 10th consecutive season that the league
has had affiliations with at least 20 teams in the NHL, and with 24 of the
27 teams in the AHL. There have been 310 former ECHL players who have
played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL. There were a record 47 former
ECHL players who made their NHL debut in 2005-06, including five
goaltenders who played a game in both leagues. Since 2000-01 there have
been more than 160 players who have played in the NHL after the ECHL and in
2005-06 there were 112 former ECHL players who played in the NHL and all 30
teams had a former ECHL player take the ice for at least one game.
The leading distributor of game-worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn
Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray has sold almost 3,000 game-worn
ECHL jerseys since the program began in 2002-03, including almost 900 each
of the past two seasons.
