Augusta, GA - The Augusta Lynx are proud to announce today that rookie right wing Shane Hynes has been selected to the 2007 ECHL American Conference All-Star Team.

The 23-year-old Hynes currently ranks fifth among all ECHL rookies in scoring with 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists. Thus far, the 6-3, 225 lb. forward has registered consecutive game point streaks of four and five games with the Lynx, and recorded his first pro hat trick back on December 15 against the Florida Everblades.

Originally selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the third round (#86 overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Hynes played three seasons with Cornell University before turning pro last season. He appeared in just 12 games with the Portland Pirates in 2005-06, scoring once and tallying four points with 32 minutes in penalties.

"It's definitely an honor to be selected," said Hynes. "Especially when you consider all the talent on this team, guys like (Ryan) Lang, (Jamie) Johnson, (J.B.) Bittner, and Sean Blanchard. I'm looking forward to representing the Lynx and Augusta at the game."

The 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game will be played on January 17, 2007 at the Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho. The game has been televised live each of the past five years and was available in more than 80 millions homes in 2006 on OLN, the cable home of the NHL, The NHL Network, NHL Center Ice and America One. The All-Star Game has produced 28 players who have gone on to play in the NHL and there were five former All-Star coaches behind NHL benches in 2005-06.
