(Toledo, OH) The Toledo Storm (24-20-1) ended a 3 game losing streak by
defeating the Columbia Inferno (19-24-7) 3-1 tonight in front of 3,613 at
the Toledo Sports Arena. The official can be seen at Toledo vs. Columbia
Toledo started the scoring just 1:55 into the first while on the power play.
Newly signed Brent Sullivan tapped home a rebound off a PJ Martin blue line
shot for his first goal of the season. Mike Walsh also assisted. Toledo
would make it 2-0 when Matt Zultek finished off a 5 on 3 for his team
leading 16th goal of the year. Bruce Mulherin received a Dan Watson pass and
fed a wide-open Zultek in front. Columbia would close the gap to one late in the second period as Anthony
Battaglia scored an even strength goal at 17:16. He finished off a 2 on 1
with Chris Thompson. The Storm added an insurance goal at 14:27 of the third period when PJ
Martin scored a power play goal for his 4th goal of the season. Ken Magowan
made the pass to Martin, which he one-timed from the right circle. Nick
Parillo also assisted. Toledo finished 3 for 7 on the power play and held Columbia off the score
sheet with the man advantage in 5 chances. Dominic Vicari made 20 saves to
collect the win, his 8th win of the season. Robert Gherson took the loss
despite making 40 saves. The Storm outshot Columbia 43-21. The Storm return to the One Main Street ice on February 17th against the
