
Rays Trade Alves to Charlotte

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that goalie Jorge Alves has been traded to the Charlotte Checkers in exchange for an undisclosed amount of cash.
Alves, a 5'9", 185-pound native of Boston, Mass., played in one game with the Stingrays this season stopping all three shots he faced against Gwinnett.
In a separate transaction, defenseman Jeff Moor has been released from the Stingrays. Moor played five games with the 'Rays without recording a point. Moor returns to the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
The Stingrays take on the Checkers tonight at the North Charleston Coliseum. It's "Pink in the Rink" night with the Stingrays wearing specially-designed limited edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. tonight with the Benito's Pre-game Show beginning at 6:50 p.m. with Mike Kelly, "Voice of the Rays" on ESPN Radio 910 the Team and online at www.stingrayshockey.com.
The Rays are back for two more games this weekend, both against the Florida Everblades. Join the team for Military Appreciation Night tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. The Stingrays will again be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game. Sunday's game against the 'Blades starts at 4 p.m. It's Kids Day presented by the Carolina Ice Palace with $5 tickets for kids 12-and-under. It's also Dog Days of Winter presented by Pet Helpers. Fans can bring their dogs to the Coliseum to enjoy the hockey game. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 910 the Team. Stingrays Hockey - A Whole Lot Cooler!
