South Carolina Stingrays News Release

N. CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Charlotte Checkers play tonight at the North Charleston Coliseum at 7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast live with Mike Kelly, "Voice of the Rays" on ESPN Radio 910 the Team beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the Benito's Pre-game Show.

Tonight marks the seventh meeting between the teams with the Checkers leading the series with a record of 4-2-0. The Stingrays last defeated the Checkers on Dec. 28th in Charlotte; they have not won against the Checkers at home. The two teams are in a close battle for the last playoff spot in the South Division with South Carolina currently claiming that spot with 55 points.

The Stingrays are 26-18-3 and on a two-game winning streak with their victories over Dayton and Texas last weekend. The team is 3-2 in the month of February and currently has an eight-game home winning streak. Evan Schwabe is leading the team with 47 points (16g-31a) and Stephen Werner has scored three of the last five game-winning goals.

Charlotte is 25-28-3 and has lost their last two games, against Dayton and Texas. The team is 2-3 in February. In their last ten games, the Checkers have gone 6-4 and are 12-10-1 on the road. Mark Lee is leading the way for the Checkers with 42 points in 34 games.

Come out tonight for Pink in the Rink as the Stingrays take on the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 p.m. All the players will be wearing specially-designed limited edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game in a silent auction with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

It's also Ladies Night tonight. Barry's Jewelers is providing a "diamond" for the first 1,000 women through the door, but only one of them is real. You must visit Barry to find out if you were the lucky one to win the real diamond. A bridal show, sponsored by Carlson Wagonlit, will be open from 5:30 until the end of the game in the North Meeting Room and a vendor village will be located on the concourse. The vendor village will feature area non-profit and retail organizations with a focus on women's interests.
