
'Catters rally in third but fall short in OT

Beaumont, TX (February 16, 2007) Mike Bayrack scored with 25.9 seconds left to force overtime for the Wildcatters, but Jesse Baraniuk scored the overtime game winner as Pensacola defeated the Wildcatters 5-4 in front of 1,808 at Ford Arena. Baraniuk who also had two assists beat Wildcatters goaltender Matt Yeats from the top of the left circle 3:28 into overtime for his first goal of the season.
Texas trailed 4-2 heading into the third period, but Keith MCWilliams fired a shot from just inside the blue line 45 seconds in to cut the lead to one. After going goalless in his first 45 games, MCWilliams has now scored three times in the last six games. Bayrack scored two power play goals, including the late goal in the third period to help the 'Catters force overtime and earn a point. Texas pulled goaltender Yeats for the extra attacker then was awarded a power play, scoring just 14 seconds after the penalty call to Rob Rankin.
The 'Catters lit the lamp first as Leon Hayward scored goal number ten from Steve Mullin, coming at the 4:02 mark of the first period. Pensacola got goals from Torry Gajda, Rich Meloche, two from John Hecimovic and the game winner from Baraniuk. The 'Catters out shot Pensacola 44-23. Texas went 2 for 6 on the power play while Pensacola finished 0 for 3.
