Jersey auction tonight as Lynx take on Everblades

Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - The Augusta Lynx will face off in a pair of critical South Division games this weekend with the Florida Everblades and Charlotte Checkers visiting the James Brown Arena Friday and Saturday.

Friday night's game against Florida at 7:35 pm is Ronald McDonald House Night, with the Lynx wearing jerseys from Veteran's Day to be auctioned off following the contest in the Lynx Den. If you liked the special star-spangled uniforms modeled by Augusta earlier in the season, tonight is your chance to own one as the Lynx battle the Everblades.

In three games against Florida this year, Augusta has managed to secure only a single point in overtime, yet every game has been decided by just one goal. Last time the two clubs clashed back on February 3rd, Augusta tied the game with a third period goal from Garrett Bembridge to force overtime where Jarret Lukin scored at the 2:03 mark to give the Everblades the win once again.

As frustratingly close as the Lynx have been in those three games, they remain one of the hottest teams in the ECHL right now, going 7-2-1 in the last ten games and 16-4-1-1 since December 22. In that span the Lynx have amassed 34 of a possible 44 points and a .773 winning percentage.

Freshman netminder Dave McKee won ECHL Rookie of the Month honors in February while posting eight straight wins, while the offense has been bolstered by Garrett Bembridge (7-10-17), Ryan Lang (6-8-14), Brian Passmore (6-7-13), Louis Goulet (2-11-13), and Mike Erickson (5-5-10) who are all on a point-per-game or better pace over the last ten contests.

Florida has kept a torrid pace as well, staying two points in front of the Lynx with four games in hand, the most of any division opponent against Augusta. The Everblades have cooled a bit lately, going 5-3-2 in its last ten games. Reggie Berg leads the Everblades in goals (21), assists (25), and points (46) on the year, but is slated to miss tonight's contest and is listed on the 7-Day IR for the team. Also for the Everblades tonight, they will be without head coach Gerry Flemming, who is serving a one-game ECHL suspension.

Charlotte enters on Saturday night, which is also Country-Western Night at the James Brown Arena! The Checkers have fallen to sixth in the South Division, but are only five points back of the Lynx in the chase for a playoff spot. Charlotte's recent record shows a five-game win streak that was halted February 26 at Reading, and the team has since gone 3-3-0, losing three of its last four games. Those loses have come on the road at Pensacola, and at home to Texas and Columbia. The Checkers were outscored 12-6 in those decisions.

Come check out a Lynx game this weekend! Both games start at 7:35 pm, with tickets on sale at the James Brown Arena Box office, all TicketMaster locations, or on line at www.TicketMaster.com. To book your group or birthday outing, call the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE! Seats are $18, $15, and $11, with discounts available for students, seniors, and military personnel. See you at the game!
