
Daoust To The Rescue

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones forward Jean-Michel Daoust scored two goals, including the game winner, and added three assists to be a part of all scoring in a 5-4 overtime win over Johnstown Friday night. Jason Deitsch added two goals and an assist in the triumph-which keeps Cincinnati atop the North Division standings.
The Cyclones opened the scoring 7:47 into the first period, as Cincinnati native Jason Deitsch netted his 21st goal of the season from the side of the net. Forwards Jean-Michel Daoust and Mathieu Aubin picked up the assists. Johnstown forward Dmitri Tarabrin tallied his tenth goal of the year from Jean Desrochers and Adam Henrich added the assists. At 15:58, Adam Henrich slapped home his 12th goal of the year for Johnstown with Ian MacLean and Stanislav Lascek picking up the helpers and the Chiefs held a 2-1 edge after the opening period.
Johnstown pushed the lead to 3-1 at the 2:48 mark of the second period as Henrich broke free to score his second of the night and 13th of the season. The Cyclones bounced back with Deitsch's second of the night and 22nd of the year at 4:42, with Aubin and Daoust collecting the assists. Cincinnati tied the game at three-all, when Nick Martens rifled home his first goal in a Cyclones uniform, from the right halfboards. Daoust and Aubin each picked up their third assists of the night on the score.
Johnstown switched goaltenders at that point and Ryan Munce took over for Morgan Cey. The change gave a lift to the Chiefs, as Stanislav Lascek collected his ninth goal of the season on the at 8:51 to give Johnstown a 4-3 lead through two periods.
The third period saw Cincinnati score the only goal as Daoust netted his 18th of the season 28 second into the final frame and there was no more scoring in regulation time as the Cyclones knotted the game at 4-4. Martens had the assist on the goal.
In the overtime, Daoust scored with 8.9 seconds to play from Deitsch to net the game winner.
Dov Grumet-Morris took the win stopping 21 shots for his sixth win of the year.
It was the first game as Cyclones for a trio of players, forwards Travis Lisabeth and Mike Wirll and defenseman Jason Goulet. The players were acquired from Pensacola in a trade on Tuesday (Feb. 13).
The Cyclones are now 25-18-2-2, leaders of the North Division lead by one point over Trenton which won 3-2 over Wheeling tonight. Johnstown is 21-21-3-2 and is in fifth place in the North Division. The Cyclones play at Johnstown Saturday night (Feb. 17) at 7pm.
