
Wranglers Sting Steelheads 2-1 in a Shootout

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers (28-9-12, 68 points) defeated the Idaho Steelheads (26-18-4, 56 points) 2-1 in a shootout at the Qwest Arena on Friday night. Goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 31 saves for his sixth straight victory. Left wing Arpad Mihaly scored the only goal in regulation for the Wranglers who extended their unbeaten in regulation streak to seven games (6-0-1). Idaho's Scott Burt scored the Steelheads only goal of the night in regulation. Center Tyler Mosienko scored the game-winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout for the win. Las Vegas will remain in Idaho, completing the three-game series at 6:10 pm (PST) on Saturday night.
In the first period, Las Vegas scored the first goal of the night when Arpad Mihaly notched his 20th of the season, his fourth with the Wranglers, to give Las Vegas a 1-0 lead. Wranglers Derek Edwardson and Steve Crampton worked the puck to the right of the Idaho net and Mihaly shuffled it through the pads of Steve Silverthorn. The Steelheads countered to tie the game 1-1 with just under four minutes to go in the first period. Taggert Desmet centered to the front of the Las Vegas net for Scott Burt, who was left uncovered on the back door for his seventh goal of the season.
Both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the game forcing a shootout. Idaho's Derek Nesbitt and Colin Shields scored in the six-round shootout. Las Vegas forwards Mosienko, Derek Edwardson and Mihaly each scored in the 3-2 shootout victory.
Las Vegas will return home on Tuesday, February 27th to host Idaho at 7:05 pm.
