Boise, ID - Las Vegas Wranglers' center Tyler Mosienko scored in the sixth round of the sudden death shootout to push the visitors to a 2-1 win over the Steelheads in front of 4,705 fans at Qwest Arena on Friday night.

The shootout defeat drops the Steelheads (26-18-2-2) to 4-2 in games that go past overtime, while the Wranglers (28-9-6-6) improve to 3-6 in shootouts. Both teams have now earned three points in the series, with the rubber match slated for Saturday night, February 17.

Through the first five rounds of the shootout, both teams tallied twice. Derek Nesbitt and Colin Shields found pay dirt for the Steelheads, while Arpad Mihaly and Derek Edwardson scored for the Wranglers. That set up the sixth round where J.B. Bittner was denied for the home club, allowing Mosienko to win the game with a wrist shot just inside the left post.

The Wranglers netted the game's first goal at 10:14 of the first period off a Steelheads' defensive turnover. Wranglers' winger Steve Crampton blocked a clearing attempt and forced the puck down below the goal line. The puck caromed of Crampton's equipment and over to Edwardson who fed Mihaly outside the crease and he stuffed the puck through Steelheads' goaltender Steve Silverthorn (16 saves) for a 1-0 lead.

Late in the opening stanza the Steelheads answered on Scott Burt's seventh goal of the season and his first on home ice. Steelheads' defenseman Blake Forsyth, stationed at the right point, held the puck in the offensive zone and sent it deep for Taggart Desmet. Desmet was able to find Burt at the top of the crease and he redirected the pass behind Wranglers' goaltender Kevin Nastiuk (31 saves) to tie the game at one.

After a scoreless second and third period and a subsequent scoreless overtime, it was on to the shootout.

The final shots favored the Steelheads 32-18, as they move to 17-12-1-1 when out-shooting their opponent. Both teams ended zero-for-four with the man advantage. Nastiuk picks up his 11th win of the year and his six consecutive victory, while Silverthorn (22-12-2-2), who is second in the ECHL with four shootout wins, falls for just the second time in the shootout this season.

The Steelheads wrap up their series with the Wranglers continues on Saturday, February 17. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. MST. Don't forget, Steelheads' single-game tickets can be purchased via www.idahosteelheads.com (using the all-new, print-at-home feature), by calling 331-TIXS or from the Qwest Arena box office.
