
Komets Take Four-Point Weekend

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets took 4 points out of 3 games played over the weekend earning points in 2 shootouts at home and clipping the Generals Sunday 4-3 in regulation at the Flint I.M.A. Arena to hold on to 2nd place in the Eastern Conference, 1 point behind the leading Port Huron Beacons.
Friday night the Komets dropped a 4-3 shootout to the visiting Muskegon Fury in the first meeting of 7 this season and the first of 4 in Fort Wayne. Colin Chaulk notched a pair and Bobby Stewart score once in regulation for the Komets. Pokey Reddick made 2 saves on 2 shots in the first period. Tom Lawson stopped 18 of 21 Port Huron shots in relief and took the shootout loss allowing 3 goals on 4 Fury attempts.
Saturday night, in a replay of the night before, the Komet's suffered a 4-3 shootout loss to the visiting Port Huron Beacons. Scoring for the Komets were David-Alexandre Beauregard, Kevin Kotyluk and Michel Massie. Lawson's record fell to 9-5-2 stopping 18 of 21 shots and giving up 2 of 5 shootout attempts.
Sunday the Komets upended the Generals in Flint 4-3 in regulation snapping a 5-game Komet winless skid. The Komets are now unbeaten in regulation on the road in 7 straight games (6-0-1). It was the Komet's 2nd win against Flint in as many meetings this season. The win snapped a 3-game Flint winning streak. Troy Neumeier, Adam Lewis, Chaulk and Beauregard each scored for the Komets. Goaltender Reddick earned his 2nd win of the season making 23 saves on 26 shots. Reddick's win was his 97th career Fort Wayne win.
This weekend the Komets have another 2-game home stand slated. Friday the Muskegon Fury return and Saturday the Elmira Jackals visit. Both games face off at 7:35pm.

Kotyluk nets his first.....Kevin Kotyluk netted his first pro goal when he scored the Komet's 2nd goal of the game Saturday night in Fort Wayne against Port Huron.
Perrault registers #200.....defenseman Kelly Perrault notched his 200th career point Friday night with an assist in the Komet's 4-3 shootout loss to the visiting Muskegon Fury. Perrault is in his 7th pro season.

We have a $500 winner......the Komets congratulate Jerry Ladd for winning $500 Saturday night in the Win-A-House contest during the first intermission of the Komets-Port Huron game at the coliseum. Ladd's shot stopped inside the faceoff circle for the $500 prize. Fans who participate could win a house if their shot stops in the faceoff dot. The Win-A-House intermission event is sponsored by Auburn Hills Development, Granite Ridge Builders, Fifth Third Bank and the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.
Komet's attendance tops the UHL.....Friday night's crowd of 6,331 and Saturday's 6,481 Komet faithful gives Fort Wayne a UHL high average attendance of 6,979 for the current season.
Get in the Zone.....the Komets and Hagerman Construction, the main contractor for the renovation of the Memorial Coliseum, have set up the "Komet Construction Zone" for the 2002-03 season giving local children's organizations a chance to see Komet hockey. 50 tickets to sit free in the "Construction Zone" will be donated to a local children's organization. In addition to the free tickets, groups will receive official Hagerman construction helmets and more courtesy of Hagerman Construction and the Komets. Tickets can be ordered through the Komet office at (260) 483-0011.
