Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Recalls Koci
December 9, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV The Wheeling Nailers announce today that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League have recalled David Koci.
In two tours with the Nailers this season, Koci has appeared in 17 games without registering a point and has played at a +0 in the +/- category. Koci has also accumulated 32 penalty minutes with the Nailers.
"The main focus of the Nailers organization in the affiliation with the Penguins is to prepare our players for the opportunity to play at the next levels, either the AHL or the NHL," said Nailers head coach John Brophy. "Right now the AHL Penguins need a defenseman and Koci will be able to step into their line up with game experience. We will miss him while he is gone, but we are still very good on defense here."
The Nailers play two home games this weekend. On Friday the Dayton Bombers are at the Wheeling Civic Center at 7:30p.m. The Nailers annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit the Toys-for-Tots campaign will take place during the game. Fans that bring a new stuffed animal to the game can toss it on the ice after the Nailers first goal and the stuffed animals will be collected for the local Toys-for-Tots. On Saturday the Toledo Storm are in Wheeling at 7:30p.m. The Toys-for-Tots collection will continue with collection bins at the entrances of the Wheeling Civic Center.
Call the Nailers office at 234-4625 or toll free at 1-877-NAIL-TIX for ticket information.
