UPCOMING WEEK: After a very successful four game road trip in which the Generals finished 3-0-1, they return to the Greensboro Coliseum for a four game homestand. Three of the games are in succession this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night. A share of first place is on the line Wednesday when the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies invade the Coliseum for a 7:00 contest. After visiting the Charlotte Checkers three times already, the Generals finally get to host them for the first time on Thursday night at 7:00.

Thursday's contest is a "Thirsty Thursday" sponsored by R. H. Barringer, with all Anheuser-Busch drafts selling for just one dollar. In addition, the Generals welcome to the games on Wednesday and Thursday all of the Triad area companies that purchased tickets through the "Merchants' Night" program. On Friday at 7:30, the Generals host the defending Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl for the only time all season. Pizza Hut is sponsoring Friday's game, naming it "Guaranteed Win Night." If the Generals defeat Greenville, everyone in attendance will receive a free personal pan pizza courtesy of Pizza Hut. LAST WEEK: 12/3 GREENSBORO 6, READING 3 ¨ The Generals controlled this game from start to finish behind the stick of Sam Ftorek. Ftorek scored four goals in the game, including a hat trick in the opening 14 minutes of the contest. Ftorek's four goals and five points both tied franchise records. The Generals also had goals from Chris Bell and Shane Campbell, with Mark Turner chipping in with three assists.

12/5 GREENSBORO 2, RICHMOND 3 (OT) ¨ After falling behind 1-0 early in the game, Greensboro responded by tying the game in the first period on a goal from Matt Turek, then Kurt Drummond put the Generals in the lead in the opening minute of the second period. Greensboro preserved the lead until the final minutes of the game, but the Renegades evened the score with five minutes left, then won it in overtime on a Jamie Herrington score. The Generals still earned a point in the standings for a tie.

12/7 GREENSBORO 5, CHARLOTTE 3 ¨ Vlad Serov had the Generals on top 1-0 after one period with a power play goal. Greensboro erupted for three more scores in the second for a 4-0 lead, and appeared headed to an easy victory, but it didn't turn out that way. Charlotte made the game a nail-biter by scoring three unanswered goals in the third period to cut the Generals lead to 4-3. Greensboro was finally able to breathe easy after getting an empty net goal to seal the victory. Serov finished with two goals on the night, while Mark Turner, Roman Marakhovski, and Jay Murphy also scored for the Generals.

TRANSACTIONS: 12/7 Placed defenseman Kurt Drummond on the 7-day injured list.

12/7 Signed goaltender Edgars Eihvalds to a contract.

UPCOMING COMMUNITY

APPEARANCES: The Generals will participate in the WFMY TV2 Blood Drive tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Coach Rick Adduono will be interviewed on the WFMY morning show at 7:20 tomorrow morning. Generals players Kurt Drummond and Matt Chandler will also be on hand for the blood drive at lunchtime and in the afternoon respectively.

NOTABLES: ¨ Daniel Berthiaume recorded his 300th career victory on Saturday night at Charlotte. He earned his first career victory all the way back in 1986 in the National Hockey League, with his Winnipeg Jets defeating the Quebec Nordiques 4-3.

¨ The Generals are unbeaten in their last seven games, going 6-0-1 in that stretch. They have only lost two games in regulation since Halloween, going 11-2-2.

¨ 14 of the next 17 Generals' games are at home.

¨ Roman Marakhovski recorded a +4 rating this week to go along with his first goal of the season.

¨ The Generals are tied for the fewest regulation losses in the league with only five.

¨ The Generals lead the league with a 24.2% power play percentage. They also lead the league with a 28.2% power play percentage on the road.

THE FRONT LINE: The Generals coaches show The Front Line airs live tonight on WPET 950-AM from 6:00 – 7:00 from Jack Astor's Bar and Grill on High Point Rd. PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

PLAYER: Sam Ftorek — Ftorek had a career night on Tuesday in Reading, scoring four goals and adding an assist in a 6-3 romp. His four goals and five points tied a franchise record for goals and points in a game.

GOALIE: Daniel Berthiaume — Berthiaume was 2-0-1 for the week with a 2.96 goals against average and a .922 save percentage, saving 107 of 116 shots. His week was highlighted by earning his 300th career victory on Saturday at Charlotte.
