
Everblades Take Three of Four Points on the Weekend

The Florida Everblades picked up three out a possible four points against first place South Carolina this past weekend after they dropped a 5-4 overtime decision on Friday night and defeated the Stingrays 7-5 on Saturday night. The Everblades hit the road to take on the Columbia Inferno on Friday night at 7:05 PM. Florida then battles the Greenville Grrrowl in Greenville, SC on Saturday at 7:05 PM and Sunday at 3:00 PM. All 72 regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM, NewsRadio 1660 AM and on the Internet at www.floridaeverblades.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Mark Miller calling the play-by-play. Listen to the 'The Gerry Fleming Coaches Show' presented by Stevie Tomato's Sportspage on Sportsradio 770 AM every Monday night from 6:30-7:30 PM. Tonight's show will be on remote at the Ft. Myers location.

GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Inferno will meet for the second time this season. The Everblades are 0-1-0 versus Columbia this year. Florida fell to the Inferno 2-1 in Columbia back on 10/17. Columbia currently ranks in 2nd place in the Southeast Division standings while Florida ranks tied for 4th place. Florida holds a 5-3-1 record all-time against the Inferno and a 2-2-1 record in Columbia. Columbia forward Rejean Stringer leads the team in scoring with 15-21-36 which ranks him 4th on the ECHL scoring list. Florida goaltender Rob Zepp is currently ranked first in the ECHL in goals against average with 1.78 and first in the ECHL in save percentage with a .943 SPCT. The Inferno power play ranks 4th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 1st. The Everblades power play currently ranks 21st in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 13th.

GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Grrrowl will meet for the second time this season. The Everblades are 1-0-0 versus Greenville this year. Florida beat the Grrrowl 4-1 in Greenville back on 11/21. Greenville currently ranks tied for 4th place in the Southeast Division standings while Florida ranks tied for 4th place. Florida holds a 18-11-0 record all-time against the Grrrowl and a 10-6-1 record in Greenville. Grrrowl forward Miko Sivonen leads the team in scoring with 11-12-23. The Greenville power play ranks 15th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 18th.

Friday, December 6 vs. South Carolina 4-5 OTL
The Florida Everblades (9-6-6) fell in overtime to the South Carolina Stingrays (15-7-1) 5-4 in front of a crowd of 5,897 at TECO Arena on Friday night. Stingrays defenseman Aaron Schneekloth notched the game winning goal one minute into overtime and forward Marty Clapton chipped in two goals and two assists to give South Carolina the win
Saturday, December 7 vs. South Carolina 7-5 W
The Florida Everblades (10-6-6) upended the South Carolina Stingrays (15-8-1) 7-5 in front of a crowd of 6,720 at TECO Arena on Saturday night. Everblades rookie Marty Johnston chipped in two goals and two assists and defenseman Brian Goudie registered three assists in the win.

ECHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL player of the week nomination is forward Marty Johnston. The Gloucester, Ontario native registered two goals and two assists this past weekend. For his two goal two assist effort on Saturday night he was awarded the first star of the game.
ECHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL goaltender of the week nomination is Cam McCormick. The Kamloops, British Columbia native was 1-0-1 this past week.
EVERBLADES IN THE COMMUNITY: On Monday, December 9th Vince Williams, Tom Nelson and Lee Ruff will deliver a portion of the stuffed animals collected at the Teddy Bear Toss this past weekend to the Children's Hospital at Health Park at 2 PM. Players will also be out delivering the bears on Tuesday, December 10th.
