Augusta Lynx News Release


The Lynx were at home for two games this past weekend, hosting the Pee Dee Pride and the Greenville Grrrowl. They defeated the Pride 3-1 but fell to the Grrrowl 6-2. The Lynx remain 7th in the Southeast Division with 15 points and a record of 7-15-1.

The Pee Dee Pride traveled to Augusta Saturday, December 7th only to lose 3-1. Augusta's win ended a six game losing streak. Pee Dee's Mike Torney opened the scoring late in the first period. The Lynx evened up the score at the 9:39 mark with a goal by Ryan Lauzon, his sixth of the year. Brad Ralph and Curtis Cruickshank picked up the assists. Winger Tyson Holly picked up the game winner, as well as his first goal of the season. Josh St. Louis and Ralph were credited with the assist. Ralph, assisted by Lauzon and Ryan Crane, scored an empty-net goal at the 19:42 mark to finish up the scoring for the Lynx. Cruickshank picked up his first Lynx win, making 33 saves. Augusta's Cruickshank, Ralph, and Holly were the 3 Stars of the game.

The Lynx dropped an afternoon game 6-2 to the Greenville Grrrowl Sunday, December 8th. Augusta opened the scoring early in the first period with a goal by newcomer Jason Shmyr assisted by Jonathan Gauthier and Andrew Williamson. The Grrrowl evened it up later in the period with a goal by Tyler Deis. The Grrrowl ‘s Krzyszto Wieckowski would score with 32 seconds left in the first period to lift the Grrrowl. Lynx's Jim Shepherd, assisted by John Campbell and Patrick Yetman, scored early in the second to even the score. The Lynx would be unable to score again as the Grrrowl pelted four more goals past Lynx goalie Cruickshank who made 41 saves en route to the loss. Augusta's Shepherd was named the number 2 star of the game.

Player of the Week: Brad Ralph earned three points in Saturday's game with one goal and two assists. He ends the week with a minus 1 rating for the weekend. Ralph has 7 points for the season with 3 goals and 4 assists.

Goaltender of the Week: Lynx newcomer Curtis Cruickshank allowed seven goals in his two outings this weekend. He has a Save Percentage of 0.914 and a GAA of 3.50. Cruickshank is 1-1-0 for the week.

Santa Claus will be in attendance at the December 14th game. Sports Juggler Albert Lucas will be returning to Augusta to entertain the crowd. This game is also the Teddy Bear toss game; bring a new teddy bear to the game to toss onto the ice following the first Augusta goal. The bears will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Upcoming Events

Monday, December 9: Lynx team members will be at the Shepherd Community Blood Drive from 2-6 at the Shepherd Community Blood Center on Wrightsboro Road. Listen to the "Blue Line Report" on Fox Sports Radio 1340 with the Mac Daddy at 5:45. A Lynx player will be interviewed. "Behind the Bench Coach's Show" with Kyle Schultz and Head Coach David Wilkie beginning at 7 pm at Cadillac's Fine Food and Spirits located at the corner of Washington and Pleasant Home Roads. Lynx trainer Brian Patafie will be speaking at the Evening Optimist Club at the Ramada tonight.

Tuesday, December 10: "Fore Everyone" Golf Clinic hosted by Walton Rehabilitation Hospital will be held from 1-3. Kyle Schultz will be representing the Lynx. Hat Trick for Life School Assembly program will be at Gracewood Elementary at 1:30 pm. Player representatives will be in attendance. Wednesday, December 11: Players will be at the Hat Trick for Life program at New Beginnings at 1 pm.

Thursday, December 12: Hat Trick for Life School Assembly program at Greenbrier Middle School in Evans, GA. Team representatives will be present. 5:45 pm, join the Mac Daddy on Fox Sports Radio 1340 AM for the "Blue Line Report." McNeil will have a Lynx player on the air. "The Locker Room Report" airs at 8:30 pm on Comcast Channel 4.

Friday, December 13: Join the Mac Daddy, Charles McNeil for the "Blue Line Report" on Fox Sports Radio 1340 AM at 5:45 pm. The Lynx will travel to Charleston, SC to battle the South Carolina Stingrays. Game time is 7:30 pm at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Saturday, December 14: The Lynx will host the Columbia Inferno in the fourth installment of the Boarder War at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center at 7:35 pm. Bring your teddy bears for the teddy bear toss.

Sunday, December 15: Augusta Lynx Booster Club Kids Christmas Party from 3-5 at the Sheraton.
