Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - In a rare morning game, the Long Beach Ice Dogs (6-6-2) got the revenge they were looking for against the Bakersfield Condors (4-6-3) in a 3-2 overtime win, avenging a shootout loss just three days ago. The win put the Ice Dogs back at .500 and in sole possession of second place in the Pacific Division.

The Ice Dogs struck first, with a goal by Cory Urquhart from Christian Larrivee at 5:17 of the first period. It would remain 1-0 Long Beach until 7:42 into the second period when Kevin St. Jacques scored to tie the game at 1-1. Then, with exactly one minute to go in the second period, the Condors took a 2-1 lead when Nick Economakos scored his first goal of the season.

The only goal of the third period was by Mac Faulkner who scored unassisted at 7:42 when the puck was mishandled behind the Bakersfield net. The game headed into sudden death overtime tied 2-2, but it only took Christian Larrivee 35 seconds into the extra frame to put it away with his team leading 6th goal of the season as he skated in alone and scored.

Greg Hewitt got the win in net for Long Beach, making 37 saves. Ryan Munce took the loss for Bakersfield with 35 saves. Both teams failed to score on the power play, with the Ice Dogs going 0-3 and the Condors 0-5.

The Ice Dogs will head to San Diego next for the third game of this four game road trip on Friday. The next home game will be Sunday, November 27th, versus the Victoria Salmon Kings at 5pm. Season tickets for the 2005-06 season are still on sale, and can be secured by depositing just $100 per seat. Call (562) ICE-DOGS for visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
